It may make your tummy rumble in excitement to know that you don’t have to make a stop at any Kentucky Fried Chicken before you can have a taste of those crispy and spicy fried chickens that makes KFC tick!
What if you could make it right in your kitchen and treat yourself, your family or friends this weekend with this finger licking recipe?
I will show you in quick steps how to prepare crispy spicy KFC fried Chicken.
What You Need
Choice of recipe and spice is relative depending on personal preference but for this recipe, here are must have ingredients; egg, all purpose flour, black pepper powder, salt, red chili powered, milk and your chicken leg pieces. You may also add ginger, garlic, lemon juice but I prefer not to add them. Just personal though. Not too inclined to the ginger-garlic thing.
Add water in a bowl, add one table spoon full of salt, stir very nicely and then add your chicken leg pieces (drumstick by some) in that salted water. Put it in the fridge to marinate for an hour. Some may choose to leave there overnight but anything from an hour is fine.
Get a plate and add your all purpose flour into it, add half tablespoon of salt, half table spoon full of black pepper powder, 1/4 table spoon of red chili powder, mix it nicely and spread it in the plate. Take another bowl, take your whisked up egg and turn it into the bowl and add some milk, add another 1/4 table spoon of salt, a table spoon full of turmeric (curry) powder, then mix them nicely.
Now take out your marinated chicken from the fridge, take it off the salty water into a plate, apply a layer of flour on your marinated chicken (flour coated) put it in another plate.
Do same with all the pieces. Now dip layered chicken into egg mixture and apply another layer of flour on it. Now heat mustard oil or groundnut oil in a frying pan, fry the pieces for up to ten minutes till it turns gold brown.
Your may serve over a plate of rice, steaming hot jollof rice is my preference or over ketchup or simply savour every bite and push it down intermittently with a glass of cold water or soft drink.
