A weekend is not enough to explore Uganda but it is surely enough to fall in love with it.
Uganda is an enchanting country in all ramifications with beautiful hospitable people, stunning views, and tasty cuisines.
It takes about 30 minutes to drive from Entebbe International Airport, Uganda's principal airport to Kampala. As you set out to tour this beautiful country, Keep in mind, that drivers makes best city guides.
To begin your eventful trip to this tourist haven, make a quick reservation at Hotel Ruch located at Kintu road, Kampala. At Hotel Ruch, you are certain to be treated with neat, spacious rooms with lustrous garden and amazing balconies.
For a hundred dollars, you can lodge in there and feel at home in Uganda.
As you warm up for the day, drop at The Melting Pot Bar and Restaurant for a classic Ugandan breakfast. My suggestion; go for Uganda Rolex (I don’t mean Rolex wrist watch). This pastry is about the perfect breakfast for a good start in the country and if you a lover of coffee, make sure to stop at 1000 Cups of Coffee, located at Buganda Road, Kampala to savour every mouth full of freshly brewed Uganda coffee.
With Rolex and a cup of coffee, you are good to dig into your day.
Mine, if you are a lover of real African craft, then you must pay a visit to world famous 'Art and Craft Market' in Kampala and pick at least a craft item ranging from accessories to interior decoration items. Matter of fact, this market, tagged ‘Exposure’ is about the coolest art and craft market in Africa if not the world. This market is on the same Buganda road where 1000 Cups of Coffee is located.
For those who like hanging out at night, Panamera Club and Bar at Saddler Way, Nahuru, Kampala is a place to check out. It is not your typical bar but at Panamera, you will feel Uganda night life and be treated with chops from fresh baked pastries to barbecued meats to cheap drinks and good Ugandan music.
Kampala though the capital city of Uganda is not the only cool place in the country. Don’t leave this African pride without going to Jinja, a centre town on Uganda as you will be humbled and inspired by the gentle nature's touch.
A few things makes Jinja stand out. Other than being the second largest town in the country, it is enriched with the history and heritage of Uganda. And guess what?
The very source of River Nile, the world’s longest river can be found there at Cliff road, Jinja.
Enjoy the sightseeing but don’t leave Jinja without the real meat; a jump at the Nile High, Bungee. Just a warning, if you have phobia for water and height, don’t even dare jumping.
You knees will buckle anyway, but if you can brave it, jumping Nile High Bungee is one of the most exhilarating experience that Uganda will offer you.
Just rest, assured that you will not drown and die while jumping Bungee because the safety twine is well fortified but before you dive, the rule of thumb is ‘don’t look down!’ Screaming the heck off you is allowed as you jump as it is part of the fun.
After such jump of your life, please check in at The Kampala Serena Hotel located at Kintu Road, Kampala to unwound and let out some steam.
Kampala Serena Hotel has a variety of feature that will make your stay worth the while. The serene environment answers to the hotel's name as you will relax indeed.
A great way to wrap your day will be to go for a life music at Mish Mash Bar and Restaurant located at Acacia Avenue, Kampala.
The soul music that exudes from the rich baritone voice at Mish Mash will rock you to sleep as you relish your second day in Uganda.
Spend your final day in Lake Victoria, Uganda.
Before cruising the city in Lake Victoria, check in at Jali Organic and stuff your bag with freshly crush tropical juice, packs of dried fruits and snacks as your cruise away on Lake Victoria, drinking into the serenity and beauty of Uganda, Africa’s pride.
